Abstract

This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the attitudes of Iranian nurses toward end-of-life (EOL) care, synthesizing data from six cross-sectional studies involving 849 nurses. Using the Frommelt's Attitude towards Caring for Dying Patients (FATCOD) tool, the pooled mean attitude score was 80.07 out of 120, indicating generally positive attitudes. Factors positively associated with nurses' attitudes included marital status, ward type, education level, participation in EOL care workshops, personal study, experience caring for dying family members, acceptance of death, fear of death, and professional autonomy. The study highlights the need for larger-scale research considering potential confounding variables to better understand and support nurses' attitudes toward EOL care in Iran.
