Abstract
The article examines the cultural dominance of true crime in contemporary media and its critique through Charlie Shackleton's Zodiac Killer Project. Topics include the evolution of true crime from classic films like Rope and GoodFellas to today's streaming-driven boom; the creative stagnation caused by the genre's commercialization and algorithmic repetition; and Shackleton's meta-commentary on the ethics, aesthetics, and formulaic nature of true-crime storytelling.
