Abstract
This case report focuses on functional resilience in a 58-year-old White Hispanic woman diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease (AD), who demonstrates the ability to maintain semi-independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and serve as a caregiver despite moderate-to-severe cognitive impairments and confirmed AD pathology via amyloid PET scan (BAPL score of 3). The study highlights the disjunction between AD pathology and clinical manifestations, suggesting that factors such as cognitive reserve, implicit memory, and psychosocial elements may support compensatory functional skills. This case underscores the importance of holistic dementia care that recognizes and leverages patients' adaptive capacities to enhance independence and quality of life.
