FEATURES Near the end of May's coronation service, the crowd in Westminster Abbey hailed Britain's newly crowned monarch by proclaiming, "God Save King Charles! Yet if a contingent of modern-day immortalists prevail, King Charles III will prove the U.K.'s final sovereign, not because the British have finally had it with antidemocratic pomp, but because Charles really does live forever - along with everyone else. Although most new technologies that catch on eventually drop in price, any novel life-extension therapy that's effective would likely be expensive enough to start with that only a handful of the super-wealthy could afford it.
