Abstract

Originally developed by the research and development corporation RAND in the 1950s, the Delphi method was used as a tool for forecasting the effect of technology on warfare. The term "Delphi" comes from the Greek myth in which the god Apollo travels on a dolphin from Crete to Delphi, where he kills a local monster and becomes an oracle who forecasts the future.
