Abstract

The public health sector comprises over 3,000 state, territorial, tribal, and local public health departments responsible for protecting the health of all populations. At the national level, AFPHS is creating awareness of healthy aging across public health systems through the Public Health Accreditation Board, which has embedded healthy aging standards and measures in both initial accreditation and reaccreditation of public health departments. The TFAH's AFPHS guidance and training prioritizes the importance of public health practitioner awareness of ageism and how public health departments can combat ageism's impact.
