Abstract

The paper aims to analyse the impact of Covid-19 in the perspective of a New World Order and specifically from the point of view of the world leadership as regards the political confrontation between the United States and China over the reform of the existing world order. It is highlighted in a geopolitical key the difference between hegemonic and dominance order, respectively explaining the different usages of soft and hard power and the contradictions of two world visions that influenced the foreign policies. The paper comes to the conclusion that the USA seems no longer playing a leading role in a world moving towards multilateralism as the hallmark of a New World Order, after 2020.
