Abstract

The article focuses on how satire and comedy function as meaningful narrative frameworks for interpreting history in moving-image media. Topics include the value of comedic and satirical emplotment for shaping historical meaning, the philosophical theories that explain how and why humor affects viewers' engagement with the past, and the application of these ideas to the HBO series "White House Plumbers" to show how laughter reframes political events and their historiographical implications.
