Abstract
DirecTV has decided to cancel its acquisition of Dish Network Corp. due to Dish's failure to secure bondholders' approval for a debt exchange. The original deal involved DirecTV acquiring Dish and Sling TV from EchoStar Corp. for $1 plus taking on approximately $9.75 billion in debt. Despite DirecTV's efforts to revise the terms, Dish bondholders rejected the improved offer, leading to the termination of the acquisition. This development does not affect TPG's planned acquisition of AT&T's stake in DirecTV. [Extracted from the article]
