Abstract

Strategies and approaches for addressing workplace conflict are valuable assets for OD Practitioners. In this OD in Practice, the strategies associated with the transformative mediation approach are unpacked in the context of an interpersonal conflict. Strategies such as yielding control, supporting the exploration of critical differences, and summarizing extended segments of the conversation were used to mediate a conversation between conflicting parties. This article illustrates the use of these strategies and their impact on restoring the agency to the parties and supporting their recognition of one another's perspectives. Insights from the use of the transformative mediation approach are shared to support OD Practitioners considering using it in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
