Abstract
The article focuses on research conducted in Kingston, Canada, examining the relationship between rape myths, ambivalent sexism, social dominance orientation (SDO), and right-wing authoritarianism (RWA) across gay and straight individuals. The study involved 1,103 participants and found significant direct paths between SDO, RWA, and rape myth acceptance, with variations in the strength of these relationships between gay and heterosexual samples. The research highlights the influence of both hostile and benevolent sexism on rape myth acceptance, suggesting that the patterns of these relationships are more similar than different across sexual orientations. The study was financially supported by the Canadian Defence Academy Research Programme and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
