Abstract
The article focuses on the impact of cultural differences, specifically the Power Distance Index (PDI), on the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) systems in various global contexts. It highlights how high-PDI cultures, which accept hierarchical authority, may resist new technologies until endorsed by senior leaders, while low-PDI cultures encourage participation and questioning of authority. The article uses case studies from Ghana and São Paulo to illustrate these dynamics, emphasizing that understanding local power structures is crucial for successful AI implementation and ethical leadership. It introduces the POWER Scan framework, designed to help leaders align their strategies with cultural norms to foster trust and engagement in diverse environments. [Extracted from the article]
