Abstract

A recent study conducted in Karnataka, India, by the Department of Psychiatric Social Work focused on group intervention for female spouses of men with alcohol dependence syndrome who experienced intimate partner violence (IPV). The study involved 44 women and found that group intervention led to a significant reduction in violence frequency, perceived stress, and improved social support, help-seeking behavior, and psychological wellbeing among IPV survivors. The research was supported by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and concluded that group intervention can be effective in addressing IPV and related issues.
