Abstract
"Ways of Belonging" is an ethnography that explores the experiences of undocumented youth in Canada, specifically focusing on their navigation of the educational system. The book highlights the double invisibility faced by these young people as undocumented migrants and as individuals whose presence is largely ignored by the educational system. The author argues that this marginalization is not solely a result of legal frameworks, but also stems from the everyday actions and interactions within institutions. The book offers insights into the effects of this invisibility on the youth's sense of belonging and showcases their agency in contending with their status. It calls for a shift in discussions about refugee and migrant education to include the lived experiences of young people. [Extracted from the article]
