Abstract
The article examines the gender gap in physics, engineering, and computer science (PECS) degrees in the US from 2002 to 2022. It finds that institutions serving students with higher math SAT scores have made greater strides in closing gender gaps, while those serving lower-achieving students have seen a widening gap. The findings also reveal that although overall female representation in PECS is increasing, progress remains uneven across different institutions and racial groups.
