Abstract
The French philosopher Jean Baudrillard (1929 — 2007) influenced me as I read many of his articles and books for my master's thesis. I was inspired to compose "Escaping the Screen" to show my objection to the superficiality and artificiality of modern media. I tried to criticize the digitalized world and our attachment to TV and news channels. Embracing nature and its beautiful sights is a good way to detach from them. Hence, the poem is like a journey that starts from a chaotic urban environment and culminates in pastoral setting. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
