Abstract

When looked at closely, you can see how the knowledge of black feminism, with emphasis on cultural differences and experiences, produce an almost universal set of values and meaning to life (p. 148). Black feminist sociology is one of the many corrective subcategories of sociology that highlights the exclusion of race from theories of gender inequalities (p. 2). Shaonta' E. Allen goes on to reflect on the ideas and activism of black feminist pioneer Ida B. Wells-Barnett by conceptualizing scholar-activism and explaining how the foremothers of black feminism understood the importance of subjectivity. [Extracted from the article]
