Abstract
The article explores the author's personal experiment in self-governance amid significant cuts to federal services during the Trump administration. Faced with reduced government oversight, the author attempts to take on various responsibilities typically managed by federal agencies, such as food safety inspections, weather forecasting, and economic data collection. Through humorous and often chaotic experiences, including using a Geiger counter for food inspections and forecasting weather from a hot-air balloon, the author reflects on the challenges and absurdities of trying to fulfill these roles independently. Ultimately, the piece underscores the importance of collective governance and the vital functions that civil servants provide in maintaining public health and safety. [Extracted from the article]
