Abstract

This article focuses on actor Sydney Sweeney's 2025 Met Gala gown, which pays tribute to Hollywood star Kim Novak by echoing a dress Novak wore in the 1967 film *The Legend of Lylah Clare*. Sweeney is set to portray Novak in *Scandalous*, a drama about Novak's 1950s affair with singer Sammy Davis Jr., directed by Met Gala co-chair Colman Domingo. The gala coincides with the Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit on Black dandyism, highlighting Davis as a key figure.
