Abstract
The article focuses on a study examining the transition experiences of professional female Australian rules football players leaving the Australian Football League Women's (AFLW) competition. Conducted by researchers from Swinburne University of Technology, the study involved 130 players and compared the experiences of those who voluntarily retired versus those who were delisted. Findings indicated that delisted players reported a poorer experience regarding their club's handling of the transition process and exhibited a stronger attachment to their athletic identity, while both groups showed similar levels of psychological flourishing and financial confidence. The research suggests that AFLW clubs should enhance their support for players transitioning out of professional sport. [Extracted from the article]
