Abstract
Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving,Hanukkah, Christmas,Kwanzaa, and New Year's Eve,or any combination thereof, are timesof wonderful celebration, but alsotimes of rampant waste. From top: Ways to minimize holiday waste include buyingparty dishes at thrift stores instead of using disposables;wrapping gifts with cloth; giving secondhand books; andforaging for greenery instead of buying decorations. Packaging, wrapping, bows, ribbons, and cards accompanyeach gift -- all for an item that may bedonated to a thrift store or tossed inthe garbage. [Extracted from the article]
