Abstract

The Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens in Rockford, Illinois, hosts Dia de los Muertos celebrations every November, including family-focused and adult events. The tropical exhibition area is adorned with traditional Mexican decorations like papel picado, marigolds, and alebrijes, along with a ten-foot La Catrina and humorous calaveras. Local dancers, food vendors, artists, and musicians participate in the events, which are supported by the local Latino community and high school student volunteers. The celebrations aim to create a welcoming space for the whole community to come together to celebrate, learn, and have fun. [Extracted from the article]
