Abstract

Shohei Ohtani, a Major League Baseball player, has signed a long-term deal with Topps, the trading-card label owned by Fanatics Inc. The deal allows Topps to release cards featuring Ohtani's autographs and game-used memorabilia in the US and Japan. Ohtani, who signed a record-breaking contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, has been a prominent figure in baseball since transitioning from Japan in 2018. The length of the Topps deal was not disclosed, but Ohtani stated that it will last "for seasons to come." Fanatics has been actively pursuing partnerships with top athletes and acquired Topps in 2022. [Extracted from the article]
