Abstract

The article focuses on the men's figure skating short program at the 2026 Winter Olympics held at the Milano Ice Skating Arena, highlighting Ilia Malinin's standout performance. Malinin, known as the "quad god," delivered technically superior jumps, including two quadruple jumps, earning a significant lead and a perfect 10.0 presentation score from one judge. His teammates Andrew Torgashev and Maxim Naumov also achieved personal bests, with Naumov competing in memory of his parents, who died in a plane crash in 2025. Both Torgashev and Naumov qualified for the free skate final, underscoring a strong showing by the U.S. men's figure skating team.
