Abstract
Abe Yanofsky, a Canadian chess prodigy, made history by becoming Canada's first grandmaster. He achieved success in both national and international tournaments, winning multiple Canadian championships and defeating top players. Despite limited time for studying chess, Yanofsky's innate ability and talent for the game shone through. He considered making chess his career but chose to pursue law instead due to limited earning potential. Yanofsky continued to play chess throughout his life and represented Canada in various tournaments, leaving a lasting legacy in Canadian chess. He passed away in 2000. [Extracted from the article]
