Abstract
This article discusses the history of bowling and highlights several bowling signs from the 1950s and 1960s that are still on display today. It mentions specific bowling centers such as Mahall's Twenty Lanes in Ohio, Cressmoor Lanes in Indiana, Herrin Bowl in Illinois, Joey Armadillo's in Michigan, Silver Spur Lanes in Wyoming, Planet Bowl in Oklahoma, Gal-A-Bowl in New Mexico, Castaways Bowl in Illinois, and Wakefield Bowladrome in Massachusetts. The article also provides information about the development of bowling equipment by the American Machine and Foundry Co. (AMF) and the unique aspects of candlepin bowling.
