Abstract
The article discusses the 1846 Oregon Trail Map created by Charles Preuss. The Oregon Trail was a route used by pioneers to travel from the United States to the Oregon Country on the West Coast. The map was commissioned by the U.S. Senate to guide pioneers on their journey. Preuss, a skilled cartographer and artist, used his field notes and sketches from previous expeditions to create a detailed and practical map. The map was printed in seven sections and provided valuable information on terrain, landmarks, and resources for travelers. It was a crucial resource for the thousands of pioneers making their way westward. [Extracted from the article]
