Abstract
This article focuses on a Cook County Circuit Court ruling allowing a negligence claim against the Chicago Blackhawks to proceed in a lawsuit filed by a former player, identified as "John Doe," who alleges the team failed to act on reports of sexual abuse by former video coach Brad Aldrich during the 2010 Stanley Cup. The court denied the Blackhawks' motion for summary judgment, finding that factual disputes exist regarding the team's knowledge and handling of the allegations, as well as whether the statute of limitations should be extended due to fraudulent concealment. The case references a prior settlement involving similar allegations by former player Kyle Beach and includes evidence such as depositions and an independent report by Jenner & Block. The article also notes that former Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman may be compelled to testify as the case moves toward trial.
