Abstract

The article analyzes the focus of concussion research within clinical neuropsychology from 2010 to 2020 by examining titles of 317 relevant articles. It finds that research disproportionately centers on sports-related concussions (29.0%), with less attention given to other causes such as falls or motor vehicle accidents. Other topics include children and adolescents (23.3%), emotional and personality issues (23.0%), military-related concussions (15.8%), and post-concussive symptoms (12.9%), while areas like sex differences (2.5%) and multicultural neuropsychology (2.2%) receive minimal focus. The study suggests that expanding research to include diverse factors such as sex and cultural differences could better address public health needs related to concussion risk and recovery.
