Abstract

During the Normandy Campaign in August 1944, Canadian airman Francis Carlyle Goring was shot down and killed while conducting reconnaissance on German forces. His remains were initially buried at the crash site and later moved to Banneville-La-Campagne War Cemetery. In 2005, Goring's aircraft was unearthed and his parachute, survival kit, engine, and tail wheel were found among the wreckage. These items are now displayed at the Juno Beach Centre in Courseulles-sur-Mer, which pays homage to the Canadians who lost their lives during the Battle of Normandy. [Extracted from the article]
