Abstract

The article "HOW MOUNT RUSHMORE WAS BUILT" discusses the history and construction of the iconic Mount Rushmore monument in South Dakota. The project, which began in 1927 and took 14 years to complete, involved 400 workers who faced high-risk and strenuous tasks during the Great Depression. While the monument attracts nearly 3 million visitors annually, it is also viewed negatively by some as the desecration of a sacred site for the Lakota Sioux tribe. The main artist behind the design, Gutzon Borglum, passed away before the monument's completion, resulting in his original vision not being fully realized. [Extracted from the article]
