Abstract
The article discusses the record-breaking sale of the Boston Celtics to a consortium led by Bill Chisholm, founder and Managing Partner of Symphony Technology Group (STG) Partners. The National Basketball Association (NBA) has approved the sale, which is expected to close soon, with the consortium acquiring at least 51 percent ownership initially and full control by 2028 for a total price that could reach $7.3 billion. The initial sale price of $6.1 billion marks the highest ever for an American professional sports team, surpassing the previous record set by the NFL's Washington Commanders. Current CEO Wyc Grousbeck will remain in his position through the 2027/28 season. [Extracted from the article]
