Abstract

The article focuses on a study investigating the effects of linear periodization (LP) resistance training on rehabilitation after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) in male recreational athletes. Conducted at the Federal University of Health Sciences in Porto Alegre, Brazil, the research involved 22 participants who were randomized into either an LP program or a traditional '3x10 reps protocol'. Results indicated that the LP group achieved significantly greater gains in knee extensor strength and psychological readiness compared to the traditional group, although no significant differences were found in knee flexor strength, hop performance, or patient-reported function. The study concludes that LP resistance training is more effective than the traditional method for enhancing outcomes during ACLR rehabilitation. [Extracted from the article]
