Abstract
This article, titled "Puzzle," discusses a conversation between King Arthur and his wizard, Merlin, regarding the impending Battle of Mount Badon. The Saxons are advancing with 90 soldiers, while King Arthur only has 86 knights. Merlin suggests a probability-based solution, instructing the knights to split into three groups. After the battle, 32 knights and 24 Saxons remain, and the Saxons retreat upon realizing they are outnumbered. The article poses a puzzle, asking readers to determine the sizes of the three knight groups. The article also briefly mentions a previous problem about playing cards with one's elder sister and provides solutions from readers. Additionally, it mentions Lanchester's square law, which relates to the strength of an army based on its size. [Extracted from the article]
