Abstract

This article investigates the impact of playing digital games on reaction time in licensed Taekwondo athletes aged 15-35. Using the Human Benchmark test to measure visual reaction time, the study compared 29 video game player (VGP) athletes with 26 non-video game player (NVGP) athletes and found that VGP athletes demonstrated significantly faster reaction times in both dominant and non-dominant hands (p ≤ 0.05). The findings suggest that incorporating digital games into training or rehabilitation programs may enhance reaction speed, potentially improving athletic performance and injury prevention in Taekwondo. The study was conducted with Turkish licensed athletes and acknowledges limitations including gender imbalance and a narrow age range.
