Abstract

The article focuses on the recent success of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who have transformed from a team often compared unfavorably to the Atlanta Braves of the 1990s to a dominant force in Major League Baseball (MLB), winning back-to-back World Series titles in 2024 and 2025. Under the leadership of president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers have achieved 13 consecutive postseason appearances and three championships in six seasons, bolstered by high-profile acquisitions like four-time MVP Shohei Ohtani. In contrast, the article discusses the challenges faced by other teams in the National League West, particularly the San Diego Padres, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Francisco Giants, and Colorado Rockies, highlighting their struggles to keep pace with the Dodgers' success and the impact of ownership changes and player departures on their rosters.
