Abstract
A group of researchers from Concordia University conducted a study during a caving expedition in Mexico to explore the challenges of field-based cognitive science. The researchers joined a group of spelunkers in extreme conditions to gather data on fatigue, emotional regulation, and cognitive performance. Despite logistical difficulties and limited equipment, the study provided valuable insights into conducting research in extreme environments, with implications for workplace safety and cognitive workload. This study may inform future research in similar settings and was supported by the Government of Canada's New Frontiers in Research Fund and the Canadian Space Agency. [Extracted from the article]
