Abstract

Peter Angelos, the billionaire trial lawyer and majority owner of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team, has passed away at the age of 94. Angelos was known for his successful product-liability suits against asbestos and tobacco companies, generating billions of dollars in settlements. He used his personal wealth to become the biggest investor in the Orioles in 1993 and kept the team in Baltimore, earning the admiration of fans. However, his management style and interference with the team led to conflicts and a decline in performance. Angelos' family has agreed to sell the team for $1.73 billion to a consortium of investors led by David Rubenstein. [Extracted from the article]
