Abstract

The article focuses on notable baseball trivia and statistical records related to home runs, pitching careers, and Opening Day starters. It highlights that only two players since 1931 have hit more home runs in a season than Cal Raleigh’s 60 in 2025 without winning the MVP Award, including Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. John Miller is uniquely noted as the only modern MLB player to homer in both his first and last career at-bats, with all his three career RBIs coming from those two home runs. The article also discusses pitchers with short careers following a 20-win season, listing 15 such players, and identifies Cade Cavalli and manager Blake Butera as having one of the youngest combined ages for an Opening Day starter/manager duo in recent MLB history.
