Abstract

The article focuses on a detailed account of a cave tour at Carter Caves State Park in Kentucky, highlighting the park’s diverse cave exploration options, including the 75-minute Cascade Cave tour featuring a 30-foot underground waterfall illuminated by colored lights. It describes geological features such as karst topography, calcite crystals, and the presence of bats affected by white-nose syndrome, as well as historical and current uses of cave chambers. Additionally, the article reports on the opening of the East Park Hike and Bike Trail – Phase II in Mill Creek Park, Ohio, which completes a nearly 0.32-mile asphalt trail connecting key park facilities and enhancing pedestrian and bicycle access through funding from a Transportation Alternatives Program grant.
