Abstract

The Jacksonville City Council has approved a $1.4 billion renovation of EverBank Stadium, home to the NFL's Jaguars. The team and the city will each contribute $625 million to the project, with the city also paying $150 million over the next two seasons for stadium preparation. The city plans to finance the renovation by delaying a pension contribution and using existing sales tax revenue for infrastructure projects. The agreement also includes a 30-year lease and a non-relocation clause. The deal now requires approval from at least 75% of NFL team owners before renovations can begin.
