Abstract
This article investigates factors influencing the adoption and prioritization of technology for athlete monitoring in four high-performance sports—golf, sprint kayak, freestyle snowboarding, and volleyball—through interviews with 25 Belgian stakeholders including athletes, coaches, and high-performance managers. Using thematic analysis, the study identifies perceived advantages of technology such as objective data support, enhanced engagement, real-time feedback, and increased confidence, alongside concerns about misuse, time demands, and complexity. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), a structured multi-criteria decision-making method, was applied to quantify stakeholder priorities, revealing Reliability and Validity as the top technical features, and Technique and Performance as the highest-priority training domains for technology use. The findings offer a framework to guide user-centered development and informed decision-making in sports technology adoption within high-performance organizations.
