Abstract
The article focuses on the indefinite suspension of Javier Loya, a Houston energy executive and minority owner of the Houston Texans, by the National Football League (NFL) due to violations of its personal conduct policy. The NFL's investigation stemmed from allegations of inappropriate behavior during poker parties in 2022, as well as subsequent charges of rape and sexual abuse, which were dismissed by a Kentucky judge. Loya pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment and was fined $100, in addition to a $500,000 fine from the NFL. He will not be eligible for reinstatement until June 2026, and the Texans organization expressed support for the suspension, emphasizing that such behavior is unacceptable in their community.
