Abstract

The article focuses on a study that identifies psychological predictors of playing pay-to-win (P2W) games, specifically examining coping strategies and motivations among gamers. Conducted with 868 participants who have made payments in online games for advantages, the study reveals that larger contributions are linked to self-enhancement motivation, while smaller, frequent contributions are associated with social motivation and escapism. The findings suggest that different gaming behaviors are influenced by varying motivations and strategies, highlighting the importance of social factors in distinguishing player types. The preprint is not yet peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
