Abstract
The article focuses on the growing participation of older adults, particularly people living with dementia (PLwD), in travel and the need for inclusive, dementia-friendly travel experiences. While travel offers physical, psychological, cognitive, and social benefits that support active and healthy ageing, PLwD face significant cognitive challenges in navigating complex travel environments such as airports and train stations. Although initiatives like Dementia-Friendly Airports and disability travel support exist, their implementation is inconsistent, highlighting the need for a comprehensive, person-centred approach that integrates tailored assessments, innovative technologies, and coordinated global policies. The article emphasizes the importance of involving PLwD, caregivers, researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to improve accessibility and inclusivity in travel infrastructure worldwide.
