Abstract
The article focuses on the history and significance of the Olympic torch relay, which originated at the 1936 Berlin Summer Olympics as a propaganda tool for Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. Initially inspired by ancient Greek traditions, the torch is first lit in Olympia, Greece, and then carried to the host country, as exemplified by the 2024 Paris Olympics relay involving about 10,000 torchbearers visiting notable French sites. While the relay has been disassociated from its Nazi origins, it has occasionally sparked political controversies, such as during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Today, the torch relay is primarily viewed as a symbol of international unity and a celebration of the host nation's heritage.
