Abstract

This article focuses on recent legal developments in sports-related litigation. It details a court-issued temporary restraining order against Hermalyn, restricting his use of DraftKings’ confidential information and business solicitation amid jurisdictional disputes over his residency and contract enforcement. Additionally, professional sports photographer Allen Kee filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against the Detroit Lions, Timeless Creations, Inc., NFL entities, and others, alleging unauthorized use of his 1995 photograph of Barry Sanders in a statue and related merchandise, seeking damages and injunctive relief. The article also summarizes a Utah appellate court decision affirming the dismissal of defamation and emotional distress claims against NBA player Russell Westbrook and the Utah Jazz arising from a 2019 fan altercation.
