Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on sports psychology, specifically focusing on the transition experiences of former National Football League (NFL) players. The study, conducted by researchers at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, aimed to examine the factors that helped and hindered the transition from professional football. The study included 1,784 former NFL players and found that career transition plans/options and social support were the most frequently reported factors that helped with the transition, while difficulties related to structure and identity were reported as factors that made the transition difficult. The findings suggest areas for targeted interventions to enhance the well-being of NFL players during their transition from sport. [Extracted from the article]
