Abstract
A study conducted by North China University of Technology in Beijing, China, focused on assessing bicycle safety risks in the context of electric bicycles sharing lanes with traditional bicycles. The research highlighted the impact of the surge in electric bicycles, with significant findings such as 72.1% of cyclists being electric bike users, 32.3% wearing helmets, and 8.4% riding against traffic. The study utilized a mobile sensing method to collect data on bike lane usage and identified key risk factors such as the type of bicycle lanes, roadside parking, subpar road conditions, and insufficient street lighting. The research concluded that the methodology used could be replicated in other cycling environments to inform bicycle safety policies and road design. [Extracted from the article]
