Abstract
This article focuses on research from the University of Stavanger, Norway, examining the perceived inconvenience of transferring between bicycles and public transport in sustainable urban mobility. The study identifies factors contributing to transfer inconvenience and measures their impact on travelers’ decisions to use bicycles as access or egress modes to public transport stops, using data from 1,007 respondents in the NordJæren region. Findings indicate that perceived transfer inconvenience significantly influences multimodal travel choices, explaining up to 10% of the variance, and highlight the importance of physical infrastructure in reducing this inconvenience. The research aims to inform policies that enhance the integration of bicycles and public transport to promote sustainable travel. [Extracted from the article]
